Addis Ababa (AMECO) — For generations, Ethiopia has been shaped by deep-rooted political, historical, and ideological divisions. Historically, rather than resolving these disparities through peaceful debate, a reliance on armed force has repeatedly plunged the nation into severe turmoil. To break this destructive cycle, the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission officially convened the landmark National Dialogue Conference in Addis Ababa on July 15, 2026, marking a pivotal step toward systemic healing.
The Commission’s primary mission is to mend historical fractures and fundamentally shift Ethiopian political culture away from war toward a lasting tradition of consensus. Conflicts rarely stem from a simple difference of opinion; more often, they arise from the absence of an inclusive platform capable of accommodating and reconciling diverse viewpoints.
