Addis Ababa (AMECO)- The Amhara region is turning to digital innovation, institutional strengthening, and long-term strategic planning to overcome ongoing regional challenges, Regional Chief Administrator Arega Kebede announced during events marking Pagume 5 — designated as “Tomorrow’s Day”.

Speaking at a joint event organised by five regional bodies — including the Bureaus of Innovation and Technology, Civil Service, Agriculture, and Jobs and Skills, along with the Disaster Risk Management Commission — Arega stressed that long-term prosperity depends on immediate, practical investments in technology and human capital.

“Tomorrow is founded on today’s strength, effort, and sacrifice,” Arega said. “Building a stable institution today builds a stable country and society tomorrow. A nation focused on technology secures its future.”

Highlighting practical measures aimed at solving systemic administrative and economic bottlenecks, the regional chief pointed to key initiatives aligned with the national Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy, including “Digital Amhara”, “Digital Civil Service”, and the “Ethio Coders” training programme. These projects are designed to modernise public administration, curb inefficiency, and equip young people with the technical skills needed to drive economic resilience.

Operating under the official theme “Visionary foresight, thorough execution,” the regional administration is pairing immediate crisis management with a broader framework for transformational growth and sustainable development.

“Our guarantee for tomorrow is today; we must not simply gaze passively at the future — we must work now,” Arega said, closing his address with a New Year message wishing citizens a bright and prosperous year ahead.
