Addis Ababa (AMECO)— In a comprehensive report focusing on Ethiopia, CNN journalist Victoria Rubadiri has highlighted the nation’s concerted efforts to transform into a major producer of metallic minerals, including the abundant gold embedded within its highlands.
In her coverage, Rubadiri stated that Ethiopia aspires to become a powerhouse in the mining sector. She specifically pointed out that the Kurmuk Gold Project in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region stands out prominently among Ethiopia’s mining investments.
She noted that across the lush, green highlands of western Ethiopia, multi-billion-dollar gold deposits exist alongside emerging new industries. Thousands of construction professionals and miners are currently undertaking the construction of Ethiopia’s massive gold processing plant.
She detailed that mining and geological experts stationed at the site are actively performing gold refining operations. The journalist also indicated that she received detailed explanations from experts regarding the gold refining and production processes.
Describing the journey of extracting gold as intensely challenging and arduous, she emphasized that the grueling effort yields substantial rewards. During her visit, she learned that rather than exporting raw gold inputs abroad for processing, the Kurmuk gold mining plant features its own dedicated refining facility.
CNN journalist Victoria Rubadiri noted that gold is increasingly becoming the country’s primary export revenue generator, highlighting that the export revenue secured from gold last year was exceptionally high.
Rubadiri explained that from exploration to production, documentation will debut online in the coming weeks, clearly showcasing Ethiopia’s industrial ambitions. CNN’s report underscored that through these milestones, Ethiopia is successfully making its mineral wealth the next pillar of its economy.
