Bahir Dar 14, August, 2021(AMC)-Al-Jazeera reported that it has witnessed the shocking suffering and displacement of the people living in the temporary accommodation center in Dessie town of Amhara regional state due to TPLF’s attack.
Al Jazeera’s reporter, Hassan Razak, said – Al-Jazeera camera was there and monitored some of the suffering of the displaced.
“Sadness and shock.. this is the case of the people living in the temporary accommodation center in Dessie, the second largest city in Amhara region.
Overnight, their lives changed and they became displaced,” Hassan Razak reported.
“I went out in my clothes, and came here on foot, this is difficult, especially since I have three children, we left the old people there, because they could not walk, I don’t know about my husband.. is he alive or dead”, Wariqat, an interviewee displaced from her residence, said to Al-Jazeera.
Al-Jazeera reported that it has witnessed one of the four centres set up in the city of Dessie to house more than fifty-five thousand displaced people who fled from the adjacent areas between the regions of Amhara and Tigray due to the military attack of TPLF.
Civilians who are displaced from their residence told to Al-Jazeera that they are paying the price of a war in which they have no part.
“TPLF’s attack has forced them to flee, and they do not know when his journey will “, the report said.
“I was displaced from the Kobo area, there was a lot of goods in it, all of them were looted.. We are alive, but there are those who lost their lives, we want to go home quickly, and we hope everyone will help us in that”, Halima, another displaced women from Kobo, said to Al-Jazeera.
“The displaced from Amhara..have left everything behind to escape on roads that pose another threat to their lives, and what is worse than that..there are no indications..that returning to their homes is imminent..with the continuation of the military attack by TPLF”, Al-Jazeera reported.
Hassan Razak reported that the militants of the TPLF say that they are continuing to penetrate into the regions of Amhara and Afar.
While the government says that the incursion is targeting defenseless civilians, and that it announced the cancellation of the ceasefire, finally, out of its duty to protect its citizens, the report added.
