Addis Ababa (AMECO)- Authorities in Ethiopia’s Somali region plan to create 172,600 new job opportunities during the 2019 budget year, establishing employment generation as the state’s central policy priority.
Speaking at a strategic consultative forum in Jigjiga, Hussein Geydi Ahmed, head of the regional Skills and Job Creation Bureau, outlined the sector’s upcoming plan aimed at tackling unemployment and boosting regional development.
In addition to direct job creation, more than 30,000 residents will receive tailored short-term vocational and skills training designed to match current labour market demands, according to information released by the regional government communication office.
