2O October, 2026—The Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (AACCSA) and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the UAE–Ethiopia Trade Mission 2026 in Addis Ababa, a move aimed at boosting bilateral trade and business-to-business (B2B) ties.

The agreement was signed by Mrs. Zahara Mohammed, President of the Addis Ababa Chamber, and H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber. H.E. Mohamed Salem Al Rashdi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Ethiopia, witnessed the signing.

The MoU sets out a structured framework for institutional cooperation between the two economic hubs. Under its terms, both chambers will expand B2B networking, facilitate joint commercial ventures, streamline trade procedures and encourage reciprocal investment between private sector enterprises in Addis Ababa and Sharjah.

Speaking at the forum, H.E. Ambassador Dewano Kedir, Director-General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commended the rapidly growing diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries. He described current bilateral ties as strong and excellent.

Ambassador Dewano stressed that both nations should build on this diplomatic momentum by promoting closer links and direct partnerships between their business communities.

Addressing the visiting Sharjah delegation, he welcomed their strategic approach to market expansion. He encouraged Emirati companies to begin with trade partnerships and move into local manufacturing as they become more familiar with the Ethiopian market.

The Ambassador also pointed to existing commercial achievements, noting that the UAE is Ethiopia’s leading destination for coffee exports. He wished the delegation a successful mission and expressed confidence in the long-term commercial outcomes of the forum.
