Addis Ababa ( AMECO) By adopting internationally recognised training standards, the program is designed to equip young Ethiopians with high-level software skills, enabling them to compete in the global remote and local job markets rather than remaining restricted to domestic opportunities.

The strategy aims to position the nation as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment from global technology leaders, including Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, which consistently seek out regions with deep technical talent pools.

By turning its large youth demographic into a skilled digital workforce, Ethiopia intends to transition from a consumer of technology into a regional provider, opening new revenue streams through the export of software services to other African nations.

Highlighting the momentum behind the project, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underscored the government’s commitment to fast-track its development goals: “What we say, we execute.” Official statements indicate that the initiative is progressing ahead of schedule as the country expands its digital footprint.
