Bahir Dar, (AMECO) — A seven-member delegation from the Chinese Embassy, led by Deputy Mission Head Sun Mingxi and including Police Attachés, conducted a working visit to the Amhara Region Police Main Headquarters in Bahir Dar to advance security and technological cooperation.
The delegation was warmly received by Amhara Region Police Commissioner General (Dr.) Zelalem Mengiste alongside his management team. As part of the visit, the delegation toured various operational units and activities at the headquarters, expressing praise for the facility’s organization.
During a subsequent discussion forum, leadership from both sides held strategic talks on expanding bilateral cooperation across key operational areas, including crime prevention, criminal investigation, human resource development, training, public relations, and the implementation of modern technology.
Assistant Commissioner Kindu Wende, Head of the Public Relations and Communication Main Department of the Amhara Region Police Main Headquarters, noted that the visit serves to elevate the long-standing friendship between the Ethiopian and Chinese peoples into advanced professional and technological collaboration. He highlighted that Chinese assistance to Ethiopian security institutions—delivered both directly to the Regional Police and through the Federal Police—has yielded significant benefits and will continue to be reinforced.
Highlighting that a skilled, technologically advanced workforce forms the bedrock of a modern police institution, Assistant Commissioner Wende stated:
“In our discussions with the Chinese delegation, we have conducted effective deliberations on enhancing the capacity of our police members, expanding technological infrastructure, and modernizing professional cooperation in communication and public relations.”
A clear direction has been established to translate these strategic discussions into action, with both sides committing to a sustained and strengthened partnership moving forward.
