‘LET US RESOLVE OUR DIFFERENCES THROUGH DIALOGUE, NOT FORCE’ – PARTICIPANTS
Addis Ababa, AMECO— Ethiopia’s national dialogue conference has continued in Addis Ababa, with participants addressing selected agenda items in a spirit aimed at embracing diverse views and perspectives.
Delegates who spoke to AMECO described the gathering as a landmark moment in the country’s history, praising its inclusive structure and its role in offering a platform for Ethiopians to jointly deliberate on matters of national importance.
Addressing the assembly, Colonel Fentahun Muhabe insisted that dialogue remained the single most effective path to resolving conflict, arguing that the country must move away from the use of force and instead address its differences through constructive debate.
General Yohannes Gebremeskel highlighted the devastating human cost of ongoing hostilities. Shifting from armed conflict to dialogue, he said, represented a vital step towards securing lasting peace for the nation.
Similarly, participant Hailekiros Reda’i warned that the historical absence of dialogue had resulted in tragic losses of life and property. To prevent such destruction from recurring, he urged Ethiopians across all backgrounds to engage in open discussions.
Delegates underscored that open dialogue offers the necessary space to listen, understand, and build common ground, issuing a collective call to those who still view war as an option to renounce violence and embrace peaceful negotiations for the good of the country.
