Addis Ababa, 03 November 2026.– For citizens in Amhara Region, getting a government service has often meant hardship, lost time and maladministration. The region now says it is working to end that by bringing its most widely used services together in one place.

The Amhara Regional Civil Service and Human Resource Development Bureau announced that a modern, technology-supported system has been put in place, consolidating many of the region’s most widely used public services under a single center.
Bureau Head Banchiamlak Gebremariam said the reform is a positive step, launched to completely eliminate the hardship, wasted time and maladministration that citizens have faced.

The Mesob One-Stop Service Centers are currently operating successfully in Bahir Dar, Dessie, Gondar, Debre Tabor, Woldia and Debre Birhan. Services are also expected to begin soon in Kombolcha and Debre Markos.

To expand the integrated service further, the region is working to build and complete 151 new centers by June of the 2019 Ethiopian calendar year. Together with the six main centers already operating, this would bring the total to 157 Mesob One-Stop Service Centers.

Agreements are also being finalized to launch mobile bus services in Bahir Dar, Dessie, Gondar and Debre Birhan, taking services directly to citizens where they live.

The bureau head added that the region plans to expand the services it provides from the current 397 types to 4,600, and that work to support them with technology is under way.The goal is for citizens to get their services in one place, and in one visit.
