Rehabilitation, reconstruction plan to be implemented in the upcoming Five years officially disclosed.
Bahir Dar, June 13, 2023 (AMECO) The reconstruction and rehabilitation plan for war affected areas has been disclosed in the presence of Ministers, regional authorities and representatives from international organizations and development partners.
The Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide mentioned that the government has been delivering humanitarian assistance and worked on the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts by allocating budget. However, the crisis has been beyond the Ethiopian government’s capacity he said.
An estimated value of more than $28.7 Billion damage and economic crisis has been caused during the Two years conflict. It has been said that the rehabilitation and reconstruction work demands around $20 Billion. International organizations and development partners, war affected regional leaders and officials from the federal government have discussed on implementation of the five years program and reached on a consensus.
The Amhara Region War Affected Areas Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Fund Office (ARRFO) revealed in the first round study that the rehabilitation and the reconstruction works in the region demands more than ETB292 Billion. ARRFO indicated that 11.4 Million people were displaced in Amhara Region.
