Addis Ababa,(AMECO)-Foreign ministers have concluded two days of closed-door talks in Addis Ababa to outline continental priorities ahead of the upcoming African Union heads-of-state summit.
The second day of the 49th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council was conducted behind closed doors, with foreign ministers deliberating on key operational reports and escalating regional security challenges.
Ministers reviewed financial, policy, and administrative documentation submitted by the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC). Discussions focused heavily on peace and security crises across the continent, alongside trade and regional integration.
Draft decisions endorsed during the session will be forwarded to the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government for formal adoption at the upcoming summit.
Key Focus: The Executive Council’s primary objective is to forge a unified stance on public health, institutional funding, and geopolitical strategy before leaders convene.
Official communiqués from the session are expected to set the roadmap for pending continental initiatives, including deeper trade integration and regional economic cooperation.
