The Prime Minister noted that 61 road projects are currently under construction, including the landmark new Abay Bridge.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">The land transit push also includes the resumption of construction on the Awash\u2013Kombolcha\u2013Hara Gebeya railway line to enhance the region&#8217;s commercial competitiveness. To streamline public transport, electronic ticketing systems have been introduced across major urban hubs, including Bahir Dar, Debre Berhan, and Dessie. The digital system, paired with new standardised bus terminals, is designed to reduce passenger travel times, improve operational transparency, and curb extortion by illegal ticket brokers.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">In aviation, infrastructure upgrades are aimed at opening up key investment and tourism corridors. The recently constructed King Teklehaimanot Airport in Debre Markos has begun operations, easing access to major attractions such as Mount Choke and the surrounding Gojjam area. Meanwhile, Bahir Dar\u2019s Dejazmach Belay Zeleke Airport now features the largest and most modern terminal building in Ethiopia outside Addis Ababa&#8217;s Bole International Airport, supporting the city&#8217;s ambition to become an international conference and tourism centre.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Maritime transport on Lake Tana is similarly transitioning into a new phase. Traditional and potentially hazardous watercraft are being replaced with modern, safety-tested boats.
