They have developed a multi-functional agricultural machine that threshes and cleans grain simultaneously, offering a practical pathway out of grueling post-harvest labor.
\nTraditionally, threshing in the region relies heavily on intensive manual labor and animal power, processes that are both time-consuming and physically demanding.<\/p>\n
The newly engineered machine simplifies these operations, allowing a job that once required a large crew to be completed efficiently by just two people in a fraction of the time. This innovation not only cuts labor costs and sharpens productivity, but it also reduces post-harvest crop loss\u2014a critical bottleneck for smallholder farmers striving to maximize their yields.<\/p>\n
Developed alongside their regular academic studies, the project underscores the vital role of technical and vocational education in fostering tangible solutions to local challenges. By transforming classroom theory into community-level impact, Bereket and Bezawit offer an inspiring blueprint for youth entrepreneurship and self-reliance across the region.<\/p>\n
Recognizing the wider social and economic potential of the breakthrough, the Debre Tabor City Administration has pledged proactive support for the young innovators.
