French Minister of Culture, Franck Riester, has officially launched renovation project of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project will be undertaken with funding and technical support from the French Government. A team of experts from France will head to the site next week to assess the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The French Minister is on a two-day working visit to Ethiopia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His visit is part of the cultural and heritage partnerships initiated by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia and French President Emmanuel Macron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Franck Riester will meet with the senior Ethiopian Government officials and with stakeholders of National Palace project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will bestow the French National Order of Arts and Letters on the famous Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He will also inaugurate the exhibition \u201c20 years of Ethiopian contemporary painting\u201d at the Alliance Ethio-Fran\u00e7aise of Addis-Ababa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
