{"id":1958,"date":"2026-07-31T08:39:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T08:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ameco.et\/english\/?p=1958"},"modified":"2026-07-31T08:39:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T08:39:14","slug":"tplf-hardliners-are-pushing-for-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ameco.et\/english\/tplf-hardliners-are-pushing-for-war\/","title":{"rendered":"TPLF hardliners are pushing for war"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"model-response-message-contentr_7c918b2e81331fba\" class=\"markdown markdown-main-panel enable-luminous-fast-follows enable-updated-hr-color md-content tutor-markdown-rendering\" dir=\"ltr\" aria-busy=\"false\" aria-live=\"polite\">\n<div id=\"model-response-message-contentr_f6b29445fb3dd62d\" class=\"markdown markdown-main-panel enable-luminous-fast-follows enable-updated-hr-color md-content tutor-markdown-rendering\" dir=\"ltr\" aria-busy=\"false\" aria-live=\"polite\">\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">July 31,2026<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">Addis Ababa, (AMECO) \u2014 <strong>Tigray People\u2019s Liberation Front (TPLF) hardliners are pushing for renewed armed conflict, threatening the fragile peace established under the 2022 Pretoria agreement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">According to reports published by the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), senior TPLF figures, including Debretsion Gebremichael and Fetlework Gebregziabher, have conducted public mobilisation drives across the region to prepare for political and military confrontation with federal authorities.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">ENA quoted the TPLF leadership as declaring: <em>\u2018Now that our preparations are complete, we will begin our work from the gates of Addis Ababa alongside our allies.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">ENA report assert that while the federal government adhered to its commitments under the Pretoria deal, TPLF hardliners used the postwar period to secretly rearm and reorganise. ENA further claimed that the group is attempting to forge tactical alignments with former adversaries in Asmara as well as other anti-government forces operating inside Ethiopia and abroad.
