ACCRA, Ghana<\/b> \u2014 Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh paid tribute to Ghana\u2019s founding father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, during a visit to the historic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, where he laid a wreath at the foot of the Pan-African leader\u2019s monument.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the landmark and its role in preserving history.<\/p>\n
\n“We visited the historic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, Ghana, and laid a wreath at the foot of his monument,”<\/i> Tiruneh stated. “The site is home to the mausoleum and historic museum of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a leading champion of Pan-Africanism, as well as that of his wife, Fathia Nkrumah.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Tiruneh commended the Ghanaian people for honoring the memory of their historic leader, noting how such monuments contribute to national identity and motivate upcoming leaders across the continent.<\/p>\n
\n“The fact that Ghanaians have built such a magnificent memorial in honor of their leader, who championed African independence and unity, reflects the vital role that honoring past generations plays in nation-building and inspiring future generations,”<\/i> he remarked.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Highlighting Dr. Nkrumah\u2019s continental impact and historical bond with Ethiopia, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored the enduring legacy of the legendary leader in shaping modern African diplomacy and unity.<\/p>\n
\n“Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision extended far beyond securing Ghana’s independence. He was committed to the liberation of the entire African continent from colonial rule, and that vision continues to inspire generations today,”<\/i> Tiruneh said. “His close friendship with Ethiopia and his significant contribution to the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union) remain enduring legacies that are remembered with great respect.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
