The Amhara region is a treasure trove of art, a repository of history and tradition, and a symbol of diversity – Ayele Anawtie (PhD)

Bahir Dar, July 10, 2023 (AMECO) – Ayele Anawtie (PhD), Deputy Director of the Amhara Regional State Culture and Tourism Bureau, stated at the 15th Amhara Region Culture and Arts Festival that the Amhara people’s history demonstrates that the people play an indispensable part in the formation of government, administration, and has a prior understanding of patriotism and sovereignty, both practically and conceptually.

The Amhara region is an art storehouse, a historical mesa, a heritage archive, and a symbol of diversity, Ayele stated. He said that the people received wisdom from their ancestors.

According to Ayele, the architecture of Lalibela, the castle of Fasil, and other examples of art are treasures that the people have inherited from their ancestors and will not forget.

“Another example of wisdom is the knowledge that our ancestors recorded on parchments,” He stated.

The processes of mediation and dispute resolution are also among the regional traditional values, he stated, adding that these principles are pillars of solidarity.

He claimed that Amara, a bountiful nation that has produced great sages, is the birthplace of the four music genres. He stated that the people of Amhara are the ones who serve as development nationalists during peacetime and as warriors when the country is assaulted. According to the deputy head of the office, the region has numerous magnificent cultural riches.
