Bahir Dar, July 6, 2023 (AMECO) In his speech to the House of Peoples Representatives, the Premier noticed that Ethiopia has a development agenda regarding the GERD.
The PM affirmed that concerning the GERD Ethiopia’s moves have been conducted with regard to the advantages of the riparian states. He said, Ethiopia has been constructing the GERD on the basis of unsubsiding its benefits and on the advantage of the downstream countries, as he labeled the people of Sudan and Egypt are brothers for Ethiopians.
In his speech the PM indicated that the agenda hereafter will shift to other projects.
Prime Minister Abiy also announced that Ethiopia is open for discussion and dialogue regarding the issues of the river. Adding that the water filling of the GERD will be conducted in a way that does not harm other nations.
The water filling of the Dam will be done this year for the 4th time and the Premier reminded that this year’s rainy season has brought a better opportunity for the filling of the Dam.
The Premier said that those who have been participating in the construction of the Dam deserve gratitude, and extended his thanks.
