A $30.2Million support agreement signed to strengthen Ethiopia’s electoral system
Bahir Dar, July 4, 2023 (AMECO) The $30.2Million support agreement to help Ethiopia strengthen its electoral system has been signed by the Ministry of Finance, the National Election Board of Ethiopia and the United Nations Development Program.
According to the information the project has three goals, one is structurally strengthening the Electoral Board to conduct free, fair, participatory, credible and standardized elections and referendums by strengthening the political structure. The second is to work with civic organizations development activities to help increase the participation of women and youth in the electoral process. And the third is creating a favorable environment to conduct free, fair and credible elections.
The project will be implemented in the next four years and it is believed that it will contribute to the establishment of sustainable democracy by strengthening the country’s electoral system.
